Biography
Born on 22nd November, 1994 in Maracha, Uganda. First picked up interest in rap at about the age of 12. The Game’s “My Life” ft. Lil Wayne was such a huge influence on him at the time. Officially started rapping when he joined secondary school in St. Joseph’s College, Layibi.
His real name, Jimmy Carter, a hybrid Lugbara by decent. Given both of his parents hail from unlike tribes.
His alias, “Jay Roma” was coined from the word “aroma”. This, is a manifestation of his dire love for wordplay, otherwise known as pun. His moniker is a clever pun.
“Jay”, phonetically, is “A” which means “ace”. Thus “Jay Roma”. He means his “aroma”, in this case poetical, is first-rate and therefore inexplicably unmatched.
Back in his early secondary school days, Jay was known for keeping to himself. Well, at least most of the time. If he had a circle at all, it was really small. His boon companions to date include; Young Boniface, formerly “Young Navie” (now a Human Rights lawyer), Gala Noah (Rijab), an artiste in South Sudan, inter alia. Jay made quite a name amongst his peers with thrilling lyrical and spoken word poetry performances thought to be well beyond his intellectual capacity
He’s putting out an EP dubbed “Death & His 3 Cuz” inclusive of; “The Heavens Can Wait”, “Views ft. The Deathly Music”, “Perfect”, “Neverending”, “2 B3 AL1V3”, “Infinite”, “Retrosurrection” and many more still in the works. He’s officially affiliated to Arufu Records, bound by a formal agreement.
