Douglas’ Personal Biography
From being a village champion to now a rising song writer and gospel singer, Basaliza Douglas AKA Jal Douglas’ (Prince) love for music is inseparable.
Born of 1994 to Mr. /Mrs. Mubiru Baruk and Anichan Beatrice of Katodio village, Wanseko Town Council located along the shores of Lake Albert in Buliisa District, Douglas is the eldest child in a family of eight (8) but grew up in a small neighborhood of Pamora Ju Pa Unu in Angal Trading Centre of Nebbi District with two (2) cousins (Jawiyambe and Jerry) and grandmother (Rufina Kerchidho-now late).
He attended Raguka, Angal Boys p/s and Wanseko Town for his primary level, Uganda Martyrs S.S and Mukitale S.S for both his Ordinary and Advanced Level respectively. Later, he joined Kyambogo University in 2015 for a bachelors Degree in Information Technology and Computing (ITC).
Douglas joined the entertainment scene in 2021 with a single titled “Kajik Ceng”. This earned him collaboration with one of the fast rising song writer and gospel singer in Zombo District popularly known as Hashim the Writer, full name Hashim Muonge with a song titled “Yesu Na”.
Intrigued with his calm and blended vocal power, Douglas self-taught himself how to write, blend and produce music of his own from watching YouTube Music Tutorials, listening to radio shows and music from already great gospel singers like Levixone, Sinach, Frank Edwards among others, as well as singing in different churches country-wide. That is, Giira Church -Angal, St. Peters C.O.U - Wanseko, Uganda Martyrs Church -Buliisa and New Jerusalem Church -Makindye, Kampala).
Therefore, “Growing up serving God and working hard to become successful at everything”, is what drove him to become what he is today.
Jal Douglas is currently working on another song dubbed “God’s Laws” with same Hashim the Writer and Producer Ruvie from Paidha.
