Across Mt Wati Movie Premiere Captivates Audiences, Screenings Announced

The much-awaited premiere of Across Mt. Wati has set a new standard in West Nile and Northern Uganda's film industry, drawing audiences into a powerful narrative woven with cultural depth, complex characters, and an exploration of personal redemption. This film, produced by Anthem Production, was launched to great anticipation on the 2nd of November 2024 at Tropical Suites Hotel in Arua city and leaves a lasting impact through its gripping storyline, set against the mystic landscapes of Mt. Wati in Terego District.

 

Across Mt. Wati tells the tale of Edema Patrick, portrayed by Opingopi Yusuf Andabati, also known as Andy Opingopi, a local politician whose past indiscretions come back to haunt him. His transgressions involve a relationship with a woman suffering from mental illness, who he leaves pregnant. As the film progresses, the protagonist is tormented by visions of this “Mad Woman,” Maturu, played by Letasi Hope, who accuses him of abandoning their child. This accusation is exploited by his political rival, Tabuga Rahuman, played by Aliku Hakim (KimNazz Atinga), adding to Edema’s challenges as he seeks to clear his name.

 

To redeem himself, Edema embarks on a perilous journey beyond Mt. Wati, a site imbued with spiritual significance, hoping to find closure and peace with his ancestors. This story, penned by executive producer Asiimwe Anthen, unfolds through masterful direction by Avas Ronald, screenplay contributions from Emmanuel Osuzi Ayikobua (Jan Allan Osuzi), Andama Jimmy, and Ojaku Jimmy, with editing by Avas Ronald and Samanya Philliam Ajobe. Cinematic visuals were crafted under the expert eye of Director of Photography Samanya Philliam Ajobe, with Adriko Francis and Dafalla Mansur Yassir handling camera work.

 

The production brought together Westniles's prominent production houses, including Benchmark Innovations, Visulux Creatives, Afotech Media, Praise Jah Films, and House of Avas, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this cinematic achievement. The sound design, crafted by Mikdad Totia Paps, enhances the immersive experience, capturing the emotional gravity of Edema’s journey.

 

Across Mt. Wati boasts a remarkable ensemble cast, with standout performances by Opingopi Yusuf Andabati, Sakaru Asunta, Aliku Hakim, and Letasi Hope, supported by talents like Giramia Sandra, Faida Gloria, and Anguyo Hassan De Big Brother, Asibuku John Bosco alias Jeybee Pop Auden, Nusura Likoco alias Fancy Natz, among others.

 

As the film promises a captivating experience, the production team has announced plans to bring Across Mt. Wati to communities across Westnile.

According to Asiimwe, starting this December, screenings will be held in various regions, allowing audiences far and wide to experience this exceptional story of struggle, tradition, and redemption. Across Mt. Wati is the third film Asiimwe Anthen has produced after appearing in Big Spender (2014), he produced Wanna Be Celeb (2018) and Face of Love (2023).

 

The fusion of traditional storytelling with modern cinematic elements in the film Across Mt. Wait promises to resonate well with audiences both locally and beyond hence it awaits Awards and Nominations.
