The Alur-Arua based MC Labby Daddy aka September MC has called for heightened professionalism in the West Nile showbiz industry to ensure events are successful, enjoyable, and vibrant.
Speaking in an interview with YouTuber Maas Manus on the Daily Fix Podcast, Labby highlighted the critical need for professionalism among all stakeholders, including event organizers, promoters, MCs, and DJs.
Labby emphasized the importance of fair compensation for MCs and DJs, urging promoters to value and reward their contributions appropriately.
“If you’re making your millions, compensate the MCs properly. Pay them well to keep them motivated; otherwise, many will consider leaving because the industry doesn’t seem rewarding,” he said.
Addressing the frequent practice of hiring multiple MCs for events, Labby advised promoters to plan their budgets wisely.
“If you’re organizing an event expected to generate about 5 million, bringing in three MCs just doesn’t make sense,” he remarked, stressing the need for a realistic approach to event budgeting.
The September Mc also extended his call for professionalism to other types of gatherings, including weddings, birthdays, and political ceremonies. He urged hosts to select individuals with a deep understanding of event management to ensure seamless, well-organized experiences.
“It takes effort to put on a well-organized event, so being professional is essential,” he added. “This way, when professionals from larger cities visit, they’ll see that we have a strong team here too.”
Fresh from a trip to Qatar, Labby shared insights on the level of professionalism required in the international scene, noting that emcees there are licensed, which adds to their credibility and success.
He concluded by advising MCs to maintain a professional image, saying, “Dress well, smell good, and invest in quality equipment. A professional appearance goes a long way in building recognition and respect in this industry.”
