WHO IS BETTER BOY?

Better Boy, hailing from the vibrant Alur community fom Bunyoru Land, Western Uganda, particularly in the serene enclave of Masindi District. He is a native of Zombo District in the Northern part of the country (Uganda), West Nile Sub Region.

 

In 2023, Better Boy clinched the prestige and won title of 'Best Luo Artist of the Year' at the Kitara Music Generation Awards (KMG Awards) in Hoima City, a testament to his unwavering dedication and exceptional talent in the music scene.

 

His rise to prominence was marked by a string of releases over two years, showcasing his prowess across various genres, including Afrobeat, Dancehall, and RnB.

 

Renowned for his honeyed vocals and boundless versatility, the KMG Award winner adamantly defies genre boundaries, firmly believing that true artistry transcends musical confines.

 

“I can’t define myself with a single genre, I do all genres because music is an art, and one uses it the way he or she wants” He says.

 

EARLY LIFE:

His parents named his Uchuna Patrick, he spent his creative years amidst familial transitions, finding solace and inspiration in the nurturing embrace of his grandmother in Conguyoma village, Pakang Sub County, Masindi.

 

After that, he relocated to Masindi Town under his father's care. He is the eldest among seven siblings.

 

Being a first born, I used to wash, cook, clean and staff like that.... he says

 

He grew up in the Catholic faith, where active involvement in church choir and instrumental performances ignited his passion for music.

 

“I spent most of my time with grandmother, however relocated to my dad when he got married to my grandmother where I grew. and You Know Growing with grandmother, You can not miss Church just like that” He told this publication.

 

JOINING THE MUSIC SCENE:

Better Boy embarked on his musical journey in September 2021 with his maiden project "Figure," swiftly followed by "Sibatia," catapulting him to the forefront of the Alur music industry in the sides of Bunyoro Land and crossing borders.

 

His impressive rise was further propelled by fortuitous encounters with Alur Music stalwarts Astro Lifa and StarBoy Junior, who provided invaluable mentorship and guidance, cementing his status as a rising star.

 

"I follow Astro Lifa's contents his social media handles, I used to adore him alot! Bro, when I met these guys Astro and StarBoy Jr. We became strange friends at first, but later I introduce myself to them and get to know even Starboy Junior. We became friends and everything changed in my life" better says with a lot of happiness in his face.

 

MEETING ASTRO LIFA AND STARBOY JUNIOR:

Better Boy's fateful encounter with Astro Lifa and StarBoy Junior in Masindi Town marked a pivotal moment in his career path.

 

He was inspired by the luminaries of West Nile's music scene, including Astro Lifa, Baby Junior, Elton Loverboy, Bushy Da King, Lucky Dee, and Lionman, Better Boy found himself immersed in a world of musical possibility after creating good relationships with these great Alur Artists of the times.

 

Astro Lifa became the first Artist from West Nile who collaborated with Better, jumping on Astro's hit single "In Azillu." The remix took a number of years before its release up to now (31st May, 2023).

 

"Astro gave me this offer when I went to meet him in Nebbi, he asked me to do a Remix of "In Azillu" and see if i can understand the Music and come up with a verse." Better noted.

 

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Despite his flourishing music career, Better Boy remains steadfast in his commitment to education and professional development.

 

He is a graduate in Medical Laboratory Science, where he is providing his services at Nyamigisa Health Center III in Masindi District.

 

He attended his primary school levels in two different schools, St. Benedeta in Hoima City from Nursery to Primary Three and Karungi Primary School in Masindi, from Primary Four to Primary Seven.

 

On Secondary, he joined St. Dominic Secondary School in Masindi for his O’Level Certificate and went to Hoima and attended Albert Secondary School for A’level where he dropped out and went for a course using O’level Certificate.

 

Presently, he continues to enhance his skills through ongoing studies at Mild May in Kampala, embodying the essence of lifelong learning and growth.

 

Better Boy's unwavering dedication to his craft, coupled with his innate talent and unyielding determination, cements his status as a formidable force in the music industry, poised to captivate audiences far and wide with his unique blend of artistry and authenticity.
